Anti-Drug
Education With The New York Times
Fourteen lessons use articles from The New
York Times to engage students in discussions of healthy
lifestyle choices, evaluating risk, peer pressure, consequences
of tobacco, alcohol and drug use, and activities that promote
healthy self-esteem. Lessons are correlated to national
standards.
Media
Literacy for Drug Prevention
Ten lessons use The New York Times as a springboard
to help students recognize media influences that can affect
their decisions about substance use. The curriculum helps
students develop critical thinking about the exposure to
illicit drugs, alcohol and tobacco that they receive through
movies, TV, radio, print and other media. The lessons include
reproducible student worksheets and activities to do at
home and are correlated with national standards.
